CLIMBING TWO PEAKS ON TWO DIFFERENT MOUNTAIN RANGES

If there’s one region that can rightfully be called a mountain gem in the Western Balkans, it’s undoubtedly Mavrovo National Park. The weekend tour in Mavrovo encompasses two exclusive mountain curiosities in the region – the ascent of the highest peak in Macedonia and Albania, Golem Korab, standing at 2764 meters, and the climbing of Medenica Peak, at 2163 meters.

The former is unique for its height and the wilderness of its surroundings, while the latter is rich in history and numerous stories about the life and customs of the local Mijak population. The attitude towards the mountains in general, before and after this hiking adventure, will never be the same.
